Police believe as many as 30 firearms were stolen from a Toronto lawyer’s extensive weapons collection after a break-in at his downtown apartment over the last week.
Two Uzi machine-pistols were among the handguns stolen from Calvin Martin’s apartment, sometime between last Thursday and Monday, police said. Ammunition was also taken.
The robbery occurred while the gun enthusiast was in hospital. Authorities removed more than 200 rifles and handguns from the gun enthusiast’s home on Isabella Street, near Church after the break-in was discovered.
All of the firearms are registered. They were also properly stored, according to a report. Authorities now fear those weapons – the thieves reportedly only took the handguns – will be used on the streets.
