Hundreds of exotic fish at a Scarborough pet store were killed by poisoning Wednesday night, after the owners allege somebody dumped a toxic substance into their aquariums.

Customers at Indoor Jungle on Kennedy Road alerted staff to a bleach-like smell coming from the tanks, and pointed out countless fish that were dead and dying.

The four young men that opened the pet store just five months ago say whoever’s responsible for this targeted exotic, expensive fish and coral and must have known what they were doing, tainting the mail line that feeds into numerous tanks.

Toronto police are investigating, but there is no surveillance footage to help them. If you can help in the investigation, call 41 division at 416-808-4100 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS.
