A tip about possible gunshots led police to a pickup truck in York Region. Cops didn’t find a firearm when they inspected the vehicle, but instead allegedly found several stolen stop signs still attached to their wooden posts.
Authorities received a report about gunshots in the Ravenshoe and McCowan Roads area around 1:30am Tuesday. A police helicopter responded and spotted a pickup truck.
Officers on the ground managed to stop the vehicle, which allegedly tried to elude authorities by parking in a gas station near McCowan and Mount Albert Road. Two people allegedly tried to take off on foot but were arrested, along with the driver.
Police claim they found several stop signs and wooden posts in the back of the truck and issued a warning to drivers of possible missing traffic signs in the area.
The three men are facing a number of charges, including theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property and impaired driving.
James Jardine, 25, William Case, 24 and Alexander Lane, 25 are scheduled to appear in a Newmarket court on March 30.
