A woman and her daughter are dead and another teen is in hospital following an early-morning shooting near Belleville.

The victims have been identified as Tracy Hannah, 46, and her daughter Whitney, 14. An 18-year-old woman was airlifted to Kingston General Hospital, where she remains in stable condition.

Ontario Provincial Police found the victims while responding to a 911 call at a residence on Valley Road in the small community of Mountain View, around 6am on Friday.

An 18-year-old suspect, apparently known to the victims, was arrested following a chase in Trenton several hours later.

He is being held at Quinte West OPP headquarters and will appear in court Saturday.

"It's a very quiet street - this is very out of character for this area," said Jen Snider, who lives down the street.

"It's very scary. It's a quiet neighbourhood and we all know everybody."
