Three men have been charged with assault for allegedly attacking a man they thought was taking too long to order at a Tim Hortons drive-through.

Shortly after 8am Saturday, a 36-year-old man drove up to the Salem Road South location in Ajax with his wife and two children. He was taking a while to order and three men in a pickup truck behind them started to become impatient.

Officers say when the driver of the pickup began honking his horn and the three started shouting, the man who was ordering left his vehicle and tried to calm them down.

The accused then got out and allegedly assaulted the man, who suffered minor bumps and bruises in the incident.

Police responded to the scene, where they arrested the occupants of the pickup and charged them with assault. The three men, all from Ajax, were released from jail pending a court appearance.
