Peel police say they seized more than 200 boxes of the illegal drug Doda this week, worth an estimated $2.5 million.
Investigators executed three search warrants Monday at two homes in Brampton and Toronto and a Mississauga storage facility, where they allegedly uncovered boxes containing 1,282 kilograms of the highly addictive Doda, a derivative of the poppy plant.
Bhagat Singh, 46, was arrested and is charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. He’s scheduled to appear in a Brampton court April 22.
The drug’s lack of mainstream exposure may have some questioning its legality, but Peel authorities issued a stern reminder that anyone caught possessing or selling the drug will be charged.
