Police have charged six men with more than 500 offences after raids turned up firearms and ammunition allegedly stolen from a gun enthusiast last month.
On Thursday, officers seized an Uzi sub-machine gun, 10 handguns, 11 other firearms and ammunition they say was taken during a break-and-enter at an Isabella Street apartment. They also removed a pistol unrelated to the crime.
The targeted homeowner and gun collector, lawyer Calvin Martin, had been in hospital from February 18th to the 20th, when police believe the robbery took place.
Dwight Longmore, 21, and Robert Thelwell, 29, of Brampton; Calvin Clarke, 24, Fortunato Zappone, 32, and Steven Hunter, 24, of Toronto; and Desmond Espeut, 23, of Innisfil face hundreds of charges related to possession and trafficking of firearms and break-and-enter.
The accused were scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday morning.
