As a Mississauga teen recovers from stab wounds in hospital, students at an Oshawa high school are reeling from the death of a 16-year-old student stabbed during an after school fight.
A 15-year-old boy was knifed late Tuesday afternoon in the parking lot of St. Gertrude Separate Elementary School at 815 Ceremonial Dr., near McLaughin and Eglinton.
The victim and suspects aren’t connected to the school.
The teen was taken to the Hospital for Sick Children via air ambulance and he’s currently listed in stable condition.
As investigators continue to search for three suspects, seen fleeing the scene on bikes, the friends and family of Mike “Biggie” McDonald are coming to grips with the popular football player’s shocking death in Oshawa.
Grief counsellors were available to students Wednesday at Monsignor Paul Dwyer Catholic High School, near Rossland and Stevenson Roads, following the fatal stabbing Tuesday afternoon. Friends and family also attended a memorial on the school's football field.
18-year-old, Jacques 'Junior' Amakon, was arrested shortly after the incident. Police claim he challenged McDonald to a fight. The teens reportedly exchanged punches before a knife was drawn, police allege.

The young men apparently had a long-standing beef with each other.
Amakon's mother says she feels for the victim's family.
"I felt the pain, not only for my son, but for the other parent, it could have been the other way around.
"I cannot imagine what (his mother) is going through right now."
McDonald’s parents and some of his friends left tokens of remembrance at the bus stop where the confrontation occurred.
Investigators are still looking for the knife used in the attack. The weapon is described as a kitchen-steak knife with a black handle.
Amakon is accused of second-degree murder. He was remanded into custody following a court appearance Wednesday.
