A pro-marijuana rally is the last place most 'smokers' want to see the police, but that rapidly changed on Tuesday after someone pulled out a gun during a 4:20 demonstration at Yonge-Dundas Square.

A male suspect pulled out the weapon, causing a wave of panic as the crowd tried to disperse.   Another man (pictured below) was cut in the head when he was apparently pistol whipped by the suspect.

"I just seen him and he pulled out a gun and tried to shoot, so I just jumped on him," the bleeding man told CityNews before going to the hospital.

"Innocent people could have got shot," his friend noted.

It's not yet clear what sparked the confrontation at the otherwise peaceful rally, but police have confirmed that no shots were fired.

Several people proceeded to pin the gunman down, and he was subsequently assaulted, taking a boot in the head during the commotion.

Police moved in on the scene and the suspect was taken away in a cruiser.

Donovan Wynn, with four court orders not to have firearms, remains in custody.  He's facing 13 charges, including carrying a concealed weapon and threatening death. He's scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
