A joint effort by Durham police and the OPP, which included officers posing as 12 to 14-year-old girls online, resulted in the arrests of four men on child porn and other charges this week.
Authorities rounded up the suspects between May 18 and 21st after executing search warrants and seizing computers. Detectives are now wading through 1.5 terabytes worth of storage space on those machines.
The men charged range in age from 22 to 56.
While investigating one suspect, authorities allege they discovered five email accounts where parents in the U.S., Australia and Sweden were sharing abuse images of their own children. Detectives are now trying to track down those people and free those youngsters from harm.
Another arrest was made after authorities identified a victim from Kawartha Lakes in a chat room.
Images of two of the suspects were released. Authorities allege these men used webcams and want to ensure there are no other victims.
Daryl Clarke, 22, of Oshawa is charged with possession of child porn and making it available.
Ronald Parr, 56, of Whitby, is charged with luring.
