Police have obtained a Canada-wide arrest warrant for two men wanted in the stabbing death of a 37-year-old man early Wednesday morning.
In a press conference on Thursday afternoon, officers said David Darcy got into a fight with a man outside a house on Magnolia Ave., near Danforth Rd. and Midland Ave. They moved into the street, where Darcy was jumped and stabbed once in the chest and abdomen area.
The victim escaped in his navy blue 1999 Ford Explorer and apparently tried to drive to Scarborough General Hospital.
He didn’t make it, collapsing beside his SUV at a gas station nearby.
Passersby tried to help Darcy and called 911. But when emergency crews transported him to Sunnybrook hospital, he was pronounced dead.
After several witnesses came forward, police were able to identify two suspects, 26-year-old Sharmake Abdi (pictured, left side), also known as “Tall Man” and “Slim,” and 29-year-old Anthony Wong (pictured, right), also known as “King.” There’s no evidence the men are involved in gangs.
Detectives believe the victim and the suspects knew each other but are still trying to figure out how. A spokesperson also said police are familiar with Abdi and Wong, who have been connected to violent offences in the past.
Darcy was a single man from the Toronto area who was unemployed and did odd jobs for family and
friends.
