Union Station Flood Viewer Video

It's a case where the pictures say more than words ever could.

CityNews viewer Raffi Tchalikian was at Union Station when a water main broke, sending water streaming down stairs and escalators into the concourse level and the subway station.

"The Union Station doors opened and I heard a typhoon. I looked up and there's water flying down the escalator," explained an excited Tchalikian. "I scrambled, looking for my camera and the doors closed and that was it, but the doors opened again, so I jumped off and what I saw was amazing. Just water filling Union Station."

The TTC was forced to bypass Union Station for a time, and the entire station was evacuated. As of Thursday morning it had reopened and the water had been cleared out.

However there was word several of the elevators and escalators might not be working.

The main has also since been repaired.
