Hundreds Twitter For A Good Cause As T.O. Takes Part In International 'Twestival'

Twitter is the latest social networking site to take the Internet by storm and on Thursday night thousands of users around the world took part in 'Twestival' with the hopes of raising one million dollars for a global health crisis.

The event was a 24-hour global 'Twitter' session that the site has rolled out in an effort to raise awareness and funds for building wells in developing nations.

"There are 180 cities that have been going out throughout the day throwing parties to raise awareness about the water crisis," said Sarah Prevette, organizer of the Toronto edition which was held at Circa Nightclub. "There are 1.1 billion people currently without water in the world."

More than 400 people were on hand at the Toronto edition.

There was no bottled water available at Thursday's event, with clean tap water the preferred drink of the evening.

Hundreds twittered live at the party, while others joined in from home.

The Toronto organizers' fundraising goal is $10,000.
