An 8-year-old Burlington boy was rescued from the swollen waters of a local creek by his sister and mother.
The incident happened just before 5pm Saturday at
Tuck Creek, in the Walkers Line and Rockwood Dr. area of Burlington.
The boy was playing near the creek when he lost a shoe in the water. He reached in and was swept away by the current.
The child’s 14-year-old sister and mother jumped in to rescue him.
A neighbour saw the trouble unfolding and quickly called police.
The boy was pulled to safety by his sister and police rescued the mother.
All three were taken to hospital, but not injured.
Tuck Creek feeds into Lake Ontario. Normally it is only 30 centimetres deep, but thanks to heavy rains, it had swollen to more than one metre deep.
