A woman is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a serious crash in Richmond Hill Tuesday morning.

Sometime before 9:30am, the woman was driving on Elgin Mills Road, when her car collided with a dump truck just west of Woodbine Avenue.

Emergency crews had trouble getting to the woman because of smoke coming from the car. But they did rescue her and she was airlifted to St. Michael’s Hospital.

York Regional Police are diverting traffic around the area for the investigation and said roads will be closed until late afternoon.
