Recall Notice For GM Vehicles
After nearly a century of operations in Windsor, Ont., General Motors will close its last plant in the city.

The last transmission will roll off the line Wednesday afternoon. While it’s no surprise GM planned to wind down operations in Windsor, Canadian Auto Workers union Local 1973 President Bill Reeves said that doesn’t make the closure any easier to take for the 500 workers there.

GM has been in Windsor for 90 years. Its Trim Plant opened in Windsor in 1965, but shut down two years ago.

In 2008, the automaker announced it would close its transmission plant, which assembles transmissions for the Chevy Cobalt.
