A labour dispute could put a damper on summer travel plans for thousands of people.
Greyhound Canada is preparing to lock out workers Thursday, including 300 drivers and 170 terminal and maintenance staff, due to rocky contract negotiations.
The employees’ union, Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1415, rejected the company’s latest contract offer. It’s demanding a better deal when it comes to pension and driving hours.
The lockout would have a big impact on bus service across Ontario and Quebec, although trips from Toronto to Sudbury, Ottawa to Sudbury and all points west would still be operational.
Greyhound expects it will use American operators on cross-border routes.
