GTA Crashes
A 22-year-old woman was killed and several people were injured in a series of crashes around the GTA Monday night and early Tuesday.

Four people – one believed to be a child – were taken to hospital following an accident on the westbound collector lanes of Highway 401 near Midland.  A car hit a concrete wall around 6am.

Peel Police were called to the scene of another serious crash early Tuesday at Bristol and McLaughlin Roads. One person was trapped and had to be extricated from the vehicle. There’s no word yet on their condition.

And three people were injured, one seriously, in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 400 south of Steeles, around 1am.

The car lost control and ended up on its roof in a ditch. Authorities have said alcohol isn’t believed to be a factor.

It was an accident on Highway 427 around 7pm Monday night claimed the life of Allison Stachyra, a 22-year-old woman from Toronto. A Pontiac Sunfire crossed three express lanes, rolled a number of times in the ditch and ended up in the southbound collector lanes near Dundas Street West. Stachyra was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.

She was taken to St. Joseph’s Health Centre, where she was pronounced dead. The 27-year-old male driver is in St. Michael’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
