The federal government broadened its guidelines for businesses seeking compensation for lost revenue during the G20 summit.

Ottawa has designated an “External Affected Area”, which covers the area of Queen Street between Spadina and Yonge and an area bounded by Yonge and University between Queen and College Streets. The new guidelines also include the Queen’s Park area between College and Bloor Streets and the area around the site of the temporary detention centre at Eastern and Pape Avenues.

Earlier, the government said it would only compensate losses for businesses within the security perimeter.

The deadline for applications has also been extended to Nov. 18.

The compensation being offered by the government will only cover lost revenue and not the cost of repairing damages caused by vandals.
