StreetBeat – Aug. 20 – Doctor Charged With Sexual Assault

Toronto Police have charged a medical doctor with sexual assault after an incident last month at a Bloor Street walk-in clinic.

They say on July 31st, Javad Peirovy sexually assaulted a 32-year-old woman he was treating for an illness at the Fast Lane Walk In Clinic across from Christie Pits. The woman left the clinic and reported the incident to police.

The 40-year-old doctor is scheduled to appear in court on September 23rd at 11am.

Detectives believe there may be more victims.

Woman Dies After Crash In Mall Parking Lot

A 76-year-old woman has died after a single-car crash in Scarborough Wednesday afternoon.

Shortly before 3:45pm, an 82-year-old man was driving a Hyndai Elantra on Warden Avenue, when he turned into the parking lot of Bridlewood Mall at Finch Avenue. Police say the man then stepped on the gas, left the pavement, crossed over a sidewalk and struck a concrete pole.

He and his 76-year-old passenger were taken to hospital, but the woman died on Thursday at 9:30pm.

Exotic Bird Stolen In East End


Police are looking for two men after an exotic bird was stolen in the east end earlier this week.

Tiffany, a 16-year-old macaw flew away from her owner and into a nearby tree on Wednesday evening in the Ferris Road and Squires Avenue area, near Victoria Park and St. Clair Avenues. Police say two men captured the bird, put it in a cage and took off.

Authorities don’t have any information on the suspects yet, and are asking anyone with information to contact them at (416) 808-5400 or Crime Stoppers at (416) 222-TIPS.
