The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television announced its list of nominees for the 25th annual Gemini Awards Tuesday and CityNews received nods in two categories.
Reporters Cynthia Mulligan and Pam Seatle were both nominated in the same category – best local breaking reportage.
Mulligan’s coverage of a fatal lightning strike that hit five-year-old Kyus Caines while he was walking with his mom across a Brampton soccer field on Aug. 12, 2009 caught the academy’s attention.
