For several months leading up to her death, the two teenagers accused of plotting and carrying out the murder of 14-year-old Stefanie Rengel chatted online about their plans, court documents revealed Monday.
Sophisticated software was used to retrieve the deleted chats between a female teen suspect, who can only be identified as MT, and her boyfriend, DB, who is accused of carrying out the fatal stabbing on New Year's Day, 2008.
MT is accused of persuading DB to murder Rengel.
The court heard that the two engaged in thousands of violent and sexual chats, some of which seemed to casually discuss how they would carry out the crime.
In one of the retrieved chats, MT describes different ways to kidnap and harm Stefanie with her boyfriend, who says, "I'll go to jail, I don't care."
DB: do u love me do u want me?
MT: not if u don't do it cause I hate u and itz the only thing that would make me want u again....No sex till then.
In another chat with a girlfriend, MT says she has to stay up late because she's having someone killed.
MT: I'm getting someone killed lol....I just don't like someone.
Friend: Really? Really killed?
MT: dead in coffin
Friend: u paying him?
MT: no
After Stefanie is found stabbed to death, the friend's tone takes a serious turn.
Friend: OMG Steph is dead ...literaly. Did DB kill her?......PPL are gonna tell the police yu told DB to kill her.
MT: noone knows except u me and DB.
The Crown is expected to wrap up their case at the end of the week
