A minor collision on Highway 400 turned into a fatal accident late Thursday.
The people involved in the small crash in a live southbound lane near Highway 88 around 11pm Thursday managed to safely make their way to the shoulder.
A car and pickup truck were involved in the initial accident.
But one man in his 20s was struck by another vehicle as he returned to his car to turn on his hazard lights, police said. He was thrown into the northbound lanes where he was struck and killed.
The victim's name hasn't been released.
The OPP closed all lanes of the highway between Highways 9 and 89. All southbound lanes reopened around 6am and the northbound lanes fully reopened around 7:15am.
