As the investigation into Orangeville nurse Sonia Varaschin’s disappearance heads into its fifth day, police are set to release more details on the case.
Orangeville Police and the OPP are scheduled to hold a news conference at 11am Friday.
Varaschin was reported missing Monday after she failed to show up for work. Her car was found smeared with blood near Orangeville’s main square early Monday morning and police later found blood in and around her home.
Authorities admitted Tuesday the nurse had met with foul play. On Thursday it was revealed the woman’s family has been told to expect the worst.
Investigators said Varaschin’s boyfriend of more than a year was routinely questioned and has been ruled out as a suspect.
Police say the woman was likely attacked by someone she knew.
Orangeville Police Chief Joseph Tomei has asked rural residents to check their properties for anything suspicious that may be linked to the case, including clothing.
