The Ontario Provincial Police will be out in full force this long weekend, monitoring the province’s highways and waterways to keep an eye on aggressive drivers.

Police will be on the lookout for motorists speeding, not wearing seatbelts, drinking and driving, and also hauling unsafe vehicles.

With many parents moving their kids into college and university residences, the OPP is being very vigilant about vehicles hauling unsafe loads.

This latest safety enforcement campaign comes amid word of some troubling traffic statistics.

The OPP say so far in 2010, 211 people have died in traffic-related crashed in Ontario – that’s a dramatic increase from 2009, where 199 people were killed.
