Three firefighters were injured while battling a massive 6-alarm blaze that destroyed a computer store and several apartments at College and Bathurst Sts. late Sunday night.

Crews were called to 368 College St. around 11:15pm where fire had broken out in the basement of the Canada Computers store.

Six neighbouring apartments were also destroyed, while 40 people were evacuated from adjacent buildings.

80 firefighters were called upon to control the massive blaze. By 3am they had managed to bring it under control and by 6am it was mostly extinguished with only a few hotspots left.

The three firefighters suffered only minor injuries, with two firefighters taken to hospital for smoke inhalation and later released and one treated on the scene.

College St. was closed between Spadina Ave and Bathurst St. It’s expected to remain closed well into Monday afternoon.
