Street Beat – Sept. 7 – Single-Car Crash Takes Down Traffic Light

A single-car crash sent one woman to hospital and knocked down a traffic light.

It happened on Kennedy Road at Ranstone Gardens around 3am Tuesday.

The driver was the only person in the car and was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Toronto Police and Toronto Hydro were called to the scene and Kennedy Road was shut down for the investigation.

It has since reopened and power has been restored. 


Doctor Charged With Sex Assault

A Toronto doctor has been charged with sex assault and police believe there may be more victims.

Officers allege that an assault occurred in the early 1990s, when the accused was working at a clinic in the Yonge and Wellesley area.

The alleged offence was only recently reported.



Vaibhav Kulkarni (pictured), 52, has been charged with:

  • Sexual Assault
  • Sexual Exploitation.

Teen Arrested In Multiple Assault Case

A 15-year-old suspect is facing charges in connection with two assaults in the Scarborough area.

On Thursday September 2 at 11pm, police say the teen grabbed a woman and tried to drag her into the bushes in the McClevin Ave. and Neilson Rd. area.

The next day at 4pm in the Sewells and Neilson Rd. area, he reportedly approached a woman from behind, striking her in the head with an unknown object.

On Saturday, the boy was arrested and charged with:

  • Fail to Comply Recognizance (2 counts)
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Assault (2 counts)

His name cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Police believe there could be more victims and are asking anyone with information to contact (416) 808-4200 or Crime Stoppers at (416) 222-TIPS.
