Just in time for back to school, the TTC is beefing up its fleet.

There will be more buses and streetcars on the roads and more trains on the subway tracks as the Toronto Transit Commission works to ease crowding and provide more reliable service.

Councillor Adam Giambrone said that the increase of service, both during the rush hour and in off-peak times, will cost $6 million for three months.

The project began on Sunday.  Ridership has been steadily rising and the TTC says the changes will help meet the demand.

On August 23, the TTC Customer Service Advisory panel released a report with dozens of recommendations on everything from hiring practices and courtesy to keeping the system clean.
