Cubs Learn First Aid At Toronto EMS

About 250 children learned a valuable lesson Saturday: the importance of first aid.

The co-ed Cubs were taught the life-saving skills by older members of the Boy Scout family tree: teen volunteers from the 1st Scarborough Medical Ventures and Rovers (MedVents).

The MedVents are a co-ed Scouts Canada youth group sponsored by Toronto EMS, with a goal of introducing young people to the emergency medical services field.

It happened at 4330 Dufferin St, Toronto EMS headquarters.

The Cubs got to tour an ambulance and also earned a new badge in the process.

They needed to pass seven topics, including how to treat wounds, burns, heat exposure and hypothermia, to earn the merit badge. They were also taught CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation).
