An extremely ill Toronto woman who spent five days on life support in a Mexican hospital is finally home.
Victoria George-Pazzano suffered a severe asthma attack a week ago and was stranded at the Hospiten Cancun for the half-dozen days that followed. Her condition initially worsened but has since stabilized to the point where she was able to travel.
Finding an intensive care bed in the GTA proved a challenge, and Victoria's family was apparently
told that all the beds were full. However, late on Monday, Peterborough Regional Health Centre confirmed it had a spot open for the 29-year-old. She arrived in Toronto via air ambulance Tuesday afternoon and was taken there after a 45-minute wait at Pearson when the decision to head to Peterborough was finally made.
George-Pazzano was on vacation with her husband, Dylan, and their five-year-old son when she had the asthma attack at their resort near Cancun. Her sister has since travelled to the country to pick up the youngster and bring him back to Canada.
Meanwhile, George-Pazzano's condition is not believed to be good, a sombre fact not lost on her husband.
