The adults are being detained, while the minors – 49 children –
are in the custody of the province’s children's ministry.One person died during the voyage. Public Safety Minister Vic Toews said some refugees appear to have paid up to $50,000 each for passage to Canada.
It’s not yet known if the media will be allowed to attend the immigration hearings.
Reporters were barred from the proceedings on Monday.
