Toronto has it all according to CityNews Anchor and Reporter, Roger Petersen who brings viewers the stories of their city weeknights on CityNews Tonight.
Roger says Citytv has given him the opportunity to focus on the serious issues affecting Toronto, while also giving him room to have some fun with human interest pieces. "The incredible thing about reporting in Toronto is that the city has everything, you never know what you'll be covering. From politics, to crime, to incredibly interesting people, Toronto has it all." Career highlights include reporting on World Youth Day with Pope John Paul ll, the Rolling Stones concert at Downsview Park and getting the chance to fly a vintage second world war P-51 Mustang.
Roger joined the Citytv Toronto family in 1999 where he undertook a variety of roles including reporter, anchor and host of Autoshop. Roger then moved to Vancouver to anchor the Citytv 6 o'clock and 11 o'clock news, followed by a reporting stint at CTV, before rejoining the team at Citytv Toronto as a CityNews Reporter/Anchor.
Roger grew up in the northwest end of Toronto in the town of Weston. He completed his studies at Seneca College obtaining a degree in Radio and Television. Roger began his broadcast career in radio, where he garnered experience reporting, anchoring and hosting a morning show before making the switch to television.
Roger is active within the Toronto community - volunteering his time to many causes. He also enjoys sailing, skiing, watching movies, reading and traveling, but above all else Roger loves spending time with his loving wife and son.
