The Columbus Blue Jackets activated defenceman James Wisniewski off injured reserve Saturday, the team's general manager Scott Howson announced.
Wisniewski has not played a game in the calendar year, missing the last 17 games because of an ankle injury he sustained in a game against the Dallas Stars on Dec. 29.
Prior to his injury, the 27-year-old registered two goals and 15 assists in 29 games for the jackets this season. He also led the team in playing time averaging just under 25 minutes per game.
Wisniewski joined Columbus as a free agent in the summer after notching 51 points in 75 games with the Montreal Canadiens and New York Islanders in 2010-11.
The Blue Jackets currently sit in last place in the NHL standings and visit the Minnesota Wild Saturday.
