OHL Roundup: A look at Saturday's games

Veteran goaltending is leading the way for the Niagara IceDogs.

Mark Visentin turned aside all 25 shots he faced as Niagara blanked the host Barrie Colts 3-0 on Saturday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Visentin picked up his fifth shutout in his last seven contests, and has given up just four goals during that span.

The 19-year-old netminder now leads the OHL with nine shutouts and has won his last 13 starts.

Freddie Hamilton scored twice for the IceDogs (34-15-3), who won their fifth consecutive game, and Joel Wigle scored the other.

The Colts (29-20-4) failed to register a point for the first time in their past seven matches and it was the first time this season they were shutout on home ice.

Mathias Niederberger made 39 saves in a losing cause.

Niagara went 1 for 4 on the power play while Barrie failed to score on six opportunities with the man advantage.

Elsewhere in the OHL, it was Belleville 3, Guelph 1; Oshawa 4, Kingston 3 (SO); Kitchener 6, Plymouth 5; Sudbury 5, Sarnia 3; Windsor 5, Erie 0; Sault Ste. Marie 4, Saginaw 3 and Owen Sound 12, Peterborough 0.

At Barrie, Ont., Hamilton opened the scoring at 17:35 of the first period to give the IceDogs a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.

Hamilton added his second goal of the game, by way of the power play, at 14:35 of the second period.

Wigle added Niagara's third goal at 11:03 of the third period while Visentin turned away all 14 shots he faced in the final 20 minutes to secure the victory.

At Belleville, Ont., Brendan Gaunce had a goal and an assist and Malcolm Subban made 33 saves as the Bulls (26-24-1) defeated Guelph 22-24-5().

At Oshawa, Ont., Andy Andreoff scored the winner in a shootout and Christian Thomas scored twice in regulation as the Generals (25-24-5) slipped past Kingston (15-32-6).

At Plymouth, Mich., Andrew Crescenzi scored two goals, including the winner, and Tobias Rieder chipped in with three assists as Kitchener (36-15-1) beat the Whalers (35-15-3) for their third straight victory.

At Sudbury, Ont., Michael Sgarbossa scored twice and added an assist as the Wolves (29-19-4) beat Sarnia (26-20-6), which lost for the first time in regulation time in five outings.

Spitfires 5 Otters 0

At Windsor, Ont., Jaroslav Pavelka stopped all 33 shots he faced and five Spitfires' players recorded a multi-point game as Windsor (24-25-5) blanked Erie (7-40-5).

Greyhounds 4 Spirit 3

At Saginaw, Mich., Brett Findlay scored the winning goal on the power play with 3:15 to play in the third period as Sault Ste. Marie (22-26-5) edged the Spirit (25-23-5) for their first win in three games.

Attack 12 Petes 0

At Owen Sound, Ont., Cameron Brace scored four goals and set up three more while Jordan Binnington turned away 31 shots as the Attack (26-21-7) crushed Peterborough (24-24-6).
