Dozens of cops who worked the G20 summit could be facing internal discipline.
Chief Bill Blair says nearly 100 officers removed their name tags during the G20 summit, which took place June 26-27.
If they’re found guilty, the officers would be docked a day’s pay.
Blair made the comments Wednesday in the House of Commons. Testifying before the public safety committee, Blair said investigators pored over thousands of hours of closed-circuit videotape to identify approximately 90 officers who were not wearing name tags.
Toronto Police Association president Mike McCormack says officers have been notified of the disciplinary action and they are co-operating.
Meanwhile, restaurant owners are asking for compensation for lost business during the June 26-27 summit. Representatives of the Canadian Restaurant and Foodservices Association are to appear before a Commons committee Thursday to appeal for help.
