Peter Kim
Reporter, CityNews
Peter joined the Citytv team in January of 2011 from Vancouver, British Columbia where he worked as a reporter for Shaw TV. Prior to that, he was a producer/reporter at CKNW NewsTalk 980, where he worked on numerous afternoon drive and weekend shows including The World Today, Nightline BC, and Sundays with Cameron Bell. His career highlights so far have been covering the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics and being a member of the team awarded with an RTNDA Dan McArthur Award for in-depth investigation for a series on high gas prices.
Peter was born in Indio, California and moved to the west coast at an early age. He graduated with a BA in Classical Near Eastern and Religious Studies from the University of British Columbia, then earned a diploma in Broadcast Journalism at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT). While at BCIT, he was the winner of the CBC Fresh Voices competition and was the co-founder of the school’s chapter of Journalists for Human Rights. The latter has been an abiding passion in his life and the reason why he chose to pursue a career in this field.
In his spare time, he enjoys playing tennis (he’s a 3.5 and always looking for more partners), rollerblading and eating organic food.
