Natasha Ramsahai

Meteorologist, CityNews

Meteorologist Natasha Ramsahai is the newest member of the CityNews weather team and can be seen every weeknight on CityNews at 6.

No stranger to Toronto media, Natasha has held many roles.  Prior to CityNews she was one of the Senior Meteorologists at the CBC News Weather Centre for almost 7 years.  She was key to the creation and building of the CBC Weather Centre from 2004-2005.  After it launched, she specialized in national, international and local Toronto coverage for CBC News, as well as weather reports for travelers at some of Canada’s largest airports including Pearson International.  She was also the Meteorologist on CBC Radio One’s Metro Morning from 2002-2003.  Her in-depth understanding and passion for the weather helped listeners prepare for whatever the skies brought.  In between CBC radio and television, Natasha leapt to Toronto1 as the Meteorologist for its morning show, Toronto Today, from 2003-2004.

Natasha was born and raised in Scarborough, Ontario.  Her first memory of having any interest in the weather derived from her fascination with a character in the movie Poltergeist.  Carrie-Ann’s character counted the seconds between lightning and thunder to determine how far away a storm was.  Young Natasha’s interest in the weather grew from there.

After earning an Honours B.Sc. in Environmental Science from the University of Toronto in 1998, Natasha took on a variety of weather and broadcast oriented jobs -- including job-shadowing a Toronto weatherman right here at CityTV when she was just 15!, interning at The Weather Network and a two-year stint as a University of Toronto campus radio host -- while earning her Masters degree in Earth and Space Science (Meteorology) from York University (2001).  While at the Weather Network, she earned the title of full-time forecaster and briefer, and eventually, On-air Meteorologist.

Natasha is an accredited weathercaster of the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society in television and radio.  In addition, she heads up the Toronto chapter of their Education Outreach team.

When she's not staring up at the sky, Natasha can be found playing with her toddler boy and girl, hanging with girlfriends, shopping, traveling, going for bike rides, watching movies and reality TV, and cheering on her favourite sports team, The Raptors.
