Adam Vaughan

Political Specialist, CityNews

Adam was born and raised in Toronto and has been working as a broadcast journalist since 1982. His career started at CKLN, a community based radio station at Ryerson Polytechnical University. By 1985, he was managing the station.

In 1987, he left CKLN for Citytv to produce "CityWide" with Dini Petty and later with Judy Haliday and Greg Rist. During this time, he helped out with federal and municipal elections as well as producing news serials, and did a set of free trade debates during the 1988 federal campaign.
Adam left Citytv in 1989 to return to community broadcasting-this time to sit on AMARC's board of directors for three years (the international association of community-based radio broadcasters). In 1990, he joined CBC Radio's Metro Morning as a segment producer.

He took on reporter duties for the coverage of the municipal election in 1991 and by 1994, he began doing part time work for CBC Evening News. In 1995, he switched from radio to television and was assigned full-time to City Hall at CBC. Adam joined the Citytv team in 2000 following the death of his father, Colin Vaughan.

While most of his experience is in the electronic media, he has also written for Toronto Life and the Toronto Star.
