Melissa Grelo

Reporter/Anchor,  "CityNews" & CP24

Melissa Grelo joined the "CityNews" / CP24 news team in July 2006 as Writer and Anchor. Having previously held positions at CHUM Television's A-Channel Barrie/Toronto as Commuter Specialist for both "BreakfastTelevision" and "A-Channel News", Melissa brings with her first-hand experience in the broadcasting industry. Prior to her career in broadcasting, Melissa was a teacher at Montessori Country School in Nobleton teaching grade seven and eight students.

Having travelled to both Louisiana and Florida with Magna founder Frank Stronach to cover his work on helping evacuees in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Melissa is devoted to getting to the heart of the matter on social issues that matter to Canadians.

"Toronto is truly a multicultural city. Having that represented in the staff at Citytv means we don't just talk the talk, we walk the walk," says Melissa. "Having been a teacher, I see how powerful positive, multi-ethnic representation in the media can be on the younger generation."

When away from the newsroom, Melissa enjoys horseback riding and coaching, fitness training, reading and travelling. A believer in goodwill, Melissa's charity work includes raising funds for the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA) and the Canadian Association of Riding for the Disabled (C.A.R.D.) through her family's horseback riding demonstrations.
