BACKGROUND:
Merella began her career in the CTV National newsroom in Toronto, answering phones and checking wire copy, before making the move to Citytv as a writer for the launch of CP24 . This is where she got her first shot at being on-air and she hasn't looked back! She has covered visits by the Pope and Dalai Lama, the SARS outbreak and the release of Karla Homolka from prison. Now, as the Co-Anchor of CityNews at Five, viewers rely on Merella for their daily dose of news that matters - one hour sooner!
EDUCATION:
Merella has a Bachelor of Journalism with a Combined Honours in English from Carleton University in Ottawa
FAVES:
With a passion for travel, Merella has visited more than 20 countries. Out of her many adventures, her favourites include: hiking the famed Maccu Piccu trail in Peru, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and swimming with the sea lions in the Galapagos Islands. At work or at play, it's about the adrenaline rush!
