Allan; a compulsively neat chiropractor and control-freak, is thrown out by his manipulative wife Judith who nevertheless gets him to still pay for everything and do most jobs around her house.
Charlie is a freelance jingle composer in a luxurious beach-house and is a irrepressible Casanova who rarely gets up before noon, puts Allan up 'temporarily' with his son Jake.
The two brothers end up sharing the beach house and there own differing ideas of how to raise Jake. For Jake, it's all about balance with his button-down conservative father on one hand and his own fun-loving, sugar addict uncle who teaches him more about the wilder side of life.
