A Soldier's Final Journey
AFGHANISTAN -- The body of a Canadian soldier killed in Afghanistan is on its way home Monday.

Military officials say 21-year old Corporal Anthony Joseph Boneca -- a reservist with the Lake Superior Scottish Regiment,  based in Thunder Bay, Ontario, was killed Sunday morning in a firefight west of Kandahar City. He is the 17th Canadian soldier to die in Afghanistan.

The body of Corporal Boneca is on its way back to Canada and will arrive at CFB Trenton on Wednesday

His uncle, William Babe, says his nephew had called several times, saying he was depressed about being in Afghanistan and wanted to come home. His tour of duty was to end in three weeks.

Two more Canadian soldiers were later wounded in the battle. The area has been a hotbed of Taliban activity. On Saturday, two other Canadian troops were wounded -- one of them was flown to a American military hospital in Germany.
