A 1993 student practicum during journalism school brought Simi to what is now the Citytv building. She hasn't left since. After auditioning for a part-time job, she became a permanent fixture - first as an associate producer and health reporter, then as an anchor. In 1995 the BC Association of Broadcasters named Simi their Broadcaster of Tomorrow. Nine years later in 2004, there were more accolades for Simi from the BCAB - this time Broadcast Performer of the Year. Faithful viewers say they know her entire family. They followed her two pregnancies along with her on air.
