Citytv Reporter:
Born and raised in Winnipeg, Laurel has been passionate about storytelling since she was a kid.
In high school, she was active in performing arts and writing. After graduating, setting her sights on journalism school seemed like a natural step.
In the Fall of 2002, Laurel set off for Carleton University in Ottawa. She spent the next three years there, working for the school's student newspaper and volunteering for Rogers Television in her spare time. But her most memorable experience was spending six weeks working at the CBC bureau in London, England. While there, she produced a short documentary for CBC: Sunday about a researcher living with wolves. Her travels didn't stop there. After graduation, Laurel backpacked through Southeast Asia before coming home to join Citytv Winnipeg.
Education:
Carleton University, Bachelor of Journalism Honours
Extracurricular:
Laurel tries to travel as much as she can. Whether she's at the cabin or on a road trip to the States, she loves exploring new places. She also loves playing soccer, doing yoga and trying out some of the many tasty ethnic restaurants in our city.
What I love about my job at Citytv:
People trust reporters to tell their stories honestly and viewers expect it. In some small way I feel what I do makes a difference.
