Heather Steele

Citytv Reporters

Heather Steele is a proud Winnipegger, born and raised. At an early age she got her first taste of performing on stage, when she joined the McConnell Irish Dancers. As a dancer and then teacher for the group she thrived on taking part in Folklorama, one of North America's largest multicultural festivals held every summer. She's always had an interest in telling stories, and more importantly, hearing other people's stories. After graduating from journalism school, she started her career doing freelance work for ShawTV and CBC Winnipeg. Then it was off to the Wheat City where she was hired as a reporter at CKX News in Brandon. Now she's thrilled to be back home, covering the city she loves, with CityTV. .

Education:

University of Manitoba - English Major
Red River College, Creative Communications - Journalism Major

Extracurricular:

With several golf pros in her family, it's a bit of a sore spot for Heather, that she didn't inherit the skilled genes. She hacks it out on the fairway anyway, and even converted her fiance to a golfer, but now he beats her at the game.

What I love about my job:

There is no better way to meet people in our city, than by doing this job. Everyday brings new stories and new faces, making it impossible for it to feel like work.
